A Week of Being Spoiled

Being a blogger definitely has its perks. January spoiled me with a week of driving a vehicle that I fell in love with, a 2014 Kia Sorento.

First off, here is me getting a red light ticket! Of course, I did not actually go through a red light. My back seat cargo is much too precious for me to risk driving like that. I did make a rolling red stop, which is illegal. $95 ticket because it was my first time EVER driving an SUV and I guess I was just too excited to fully stop.

A few days later, we took the Sorento on a road trip to the Toy and Plastic Brick Museum in Bellaire, Ohio. I’ll share a photo tour of this amazing museum in a few days, but for now I want to tell you about the car.  We bought my current car brand new 10 years ago and it is still in superb condition, however given that I have driven nothing but this in the past 10 years, I had no clue about the current technology in newer cars.

So, yes I maybe might have freaked out a bit over the heated seats.

There is camera that shows a live image of what is behind the vehicle! I finally learned to pull into my garage backwards.

And the satellite radio. We jammed to the commercial free 80’s station all the way there. Can you believe that I didn’t know that this existed?

The car warns us when the tank is low! And then, at the push of a button, the GPS shows you where the nearest gas stations are.

The car has a USB port so we can charge our phones! Yes, I must live in a bubble. (By the way, do you like my River Song Diary phone cover?)

And THIS almost gave me a heart attack. I told you, I live in a bubble and had no idea safety features like this existed. When a car is next to you, in your blind spot, warning lights will flash to let you know. If you turn on your turn signal and a car is next to you, a warning sound will continue to beep until the car is gone.

Also coming soon…a photo tour of the Toy and Plastic Brick Museum!

  1. I should not laugh at your red light ticket, should I? I loved your explanation of it, and I’m sorry it happened to you — but what good footage for your blog!!! 🙂

I was impressed with all the Kias have to offer. Technology in cars has come a long way. We just got rid of my 2001 van and purchased a used Honda Odyssey (2011) and I’m just thrilled with the little bit of new technology it has in it.

    Great review, Amy! Fun!
