I love being an Ohioan. I may be a bit biased, but we have so much here that other states only dream of. We have the #1 ranked library system in the country, our science museum has been named the #1 science center in the country several times, the same goes for our zoo, we have been home to eight US Presidents, Thomas Edison and John Glenn, our Buckeyes are National Champions, and we have two Cedar Fair amusement parks.
Kings Island is one of those two parks. If you’ve never visited, this month is a great time to make a road trip because they have this brand new, limited run stunt show that your kids will love. Plus, Kings Island is the largest amusement and water park in the Midwest, so your family will have tons to experience.
Here are the top five things I love about Kings Island.
Imagine walking around the corner and seeing this!
Dinosaurs Alive! is a mile-long trail with more than 65 life-sized dinosaurs, including several you can control. It is the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur park and even includes a dig site at the end of the trail.
Here is a short video that shows off a couple of the animatronic dinosaurs.
What do you expect the most when visiting an amusement park…laughter and screams of course! Kings Island has 15 roller coasters and a 33-acre water park.
One of the best times that I had was standing on the sidelines with all the other chickens when my husband and son went on the Drop Tower. We laughed and laughed at the faces and screams of the people on the ride. Take a look at this short video and you’ll see why everyone was screaming.
This is the Invertigo, a face-to-face inverted roller coaster that soars at speeds reaching 55 miles per hour through three inversions forward, and then backward.
And of course, the Slingshot, for those who really like high adrenaline experiences. You are catapulted 275 feet in the air at almost 100 miles per hour, flipping and spinning as you bounce up and down.
The Eiffel Tower
My nightmare. I am afraid of heights, so I always close my eyes throughout half of a roller coaster ride. I decided to be brave and force myself to go up the Eiffel Tower, which is 275′ tall, one-third of the height of the real Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Unbelievably, I wasn’t afraid.
It was breathtakingly beautiful.
An amusement park is not just about the roller coasters. Kings Island has been an award winner for “Best Kids Area in the World” for16 consecutive years. That’s pretty impressive! Planet Snoopy has several kid-friendly rides featuring the Charlie Brown and Peanuts characters.
The Ultimate Stunt Show
With edge-of-your-seat thrills including a Motorcycle High Wire over the fountain, the Globe of Fear, Wheel of Destiny, the Human Cannon Ball and the Defying Cyclone, the show will thrill and amaze guests of all ages. Check out the video below for a sample of the acts performed during the stunt show.
